Portrait of KING (part 4): the final steps
All the final steps to handing over a commission - varnishing, Certificate of Authenticity, wrapping and presentation.
How to add a protective layer even though the painting is only a week old.
Although this painting was finished only one week ago, I’m adding a very light coat of Retouch varnish today as it is being collected tomorrow!
I decided to use an aerosol so that the coat is as light as possible and will allow the painting to continue to cure underneath.
Even though it’s touch-dry - a normal varnish would effectively seal in the painting and prevent it from ever drying.
So a light coat of re-touch varnish is a happy compromise to give it some protection when I hand it over!
And we all love a varnishing video don’t we! 🥳
Certificate Of Authenticity:
Everything that goes into my Presentation box containing the Certificate of Authenticity for my original paintings. This one is a smaller painting so I’m using an A5 certificate rather than A4.
Have I remembered everything? If you’re an artist too, do you always provide a Certificate of Authenticity and what do you include with yours?
Signing and Wrapping - the final presentation:
There’s something special about opening a painting that has been lovingly wrapped by the artist - don’t you think? This last, final step it is so important - it shows your client how much care you have taken over their commission and how much pride you have in the end result. Unwrapping is part of the whole commission experience and you want your client to love every bit of it!
Do you agree?
Much love
